Didn't get any pictures yet but the 5" D&G F12 came today. It's even going to be clear this evening! It's and older one but the lens was checked, cleaned, coated in 2010 and looks pristine. I'll try and get some good pictures when I get home from work. Going to shoe horn it on my GP mount. Bit of a stretch but It will work for now. Going to take an extra counterweight from my GP2 I'm VERY excited.

Congratulations on the new "baby." The curse continues here as well. The Unitron 140 still goes "unlookedthru."

Just came in from a little observing with the D&G. Took three short sessions to get it collimated. I could tell the lens was good but not collimated properly. Now it ROCKS. Jupiter was stunning in moments of good seeing. very little scattering and textbook in and out of focus images. Just like mine from 12 years ago. Here is a phone pic.

Going to go back out for a while.. Orion, M35, Eskimo neb looked really great. 5th star in the trapezium was easy at 175x. It does have a little more color than the 4" F15 Jaegers. To be expected of course. Images are a good bit brighter, it's an inch larger and coated. Seeing is deteriorating a bit. I have a little bug, so going to call it early.

Very pleased with the D&G. Performs just like the oneI had years ago. There is one small dent in the tube that could be pulled out, and it could use a little more focuser in travel. All my eyepieces reach focus, but there is only about 4 or 5 mm travel left with a 2" diagonal. Going to trim the tube about 12-15mm. The old focuser works well, smooth with no play.
