Lowe's Home Improvement stores has started rolling out a new display of what they call Good Neighbor Lighting which also happens to be dark-sky friendly lighting.
I am not yet sure how many stores have seen this yet, but there are displays that have been reported in AZ, FL, NC, NJ.
Here is what it looks like.
I counted nine different dark-sky friendly fixtures at my local store - just one is pictured above.
If anyone would be so kind as to give a store report it would be appreciated as I am trying to collate a list of where they are showing up.
Of course, if you do not see the display in your local store it can't hurt to ask for it.
Thanks,
- Scott

That is excellent news! It wouldn't hurt for customers in other parts of the country to ask their local store to stock these lights!

Agreed. I am still trying to find out which areas are getting these. I will post here when I have a better idea of what the distribution is.

The next time I'm in my local Lowe's, I'll check to see if this store has it.

Great news.
I was in Lowe’s just a few days ago to buy light bulbs, and I saw no such sign. Hopefully it will be there soon.

That's really fantastic. I was in Lowe's yesterday but wasn't in that section. I'll definitely take a look next time I go back. I might even buy a pair for my next door neighbor...

Lowe's tells me that at least some dark-sky friendly lighting is in every store, but not all stores have this display. Also, the fixtures are all for sale on their website. Just search for 'dark sky'.

Great post...I'll have to check my store here in NC. Maybe I can talk the city to install them in my neighborhood!

It's about time that Lowe's stocked better light-reducing fixtures. Good move!

AFAIK, they've been stocking some such fixtures for a few years now. I know I bought a couple that were specifically labelled "dark sky friendly" three years ago. At that time, they only had two kinds, I believe, so the larger selection and prominent display (along with the IDA logo!) is something I've not seen before.

Don't know about that ... my local Lowe's hasn't had such fixtures, mostly unshielded LCDs. Pretty sure we got our dark sky fixtures at Home Depot ...

I've seen pictures of their display on other web sites. It's a nice start, but there's still too few choices for dark-sky friendly lighting at the box stores. Some motion activated and downblaster style would be good to add. They still don't sell shields for their (in)security lights. My neighbor two doors down installed one of those yard-blaster clones last year(dirty-words, dirty-words!!). I've looked for a shield for those and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find one. Grrrrrr.

Kevin, do a search for "Hubble Sky Cap." I think that may be what you're looking to find.
