P.M. me for my article on Mapping the Moons of Mars and more info on the 1:60,000 scale Phobos "globe" made by scientific modeller Ralph J.Turner, Rock Creek Experimental Station –
Oregon, using 25 Mariner 9 photo records.

The phobos globe is very cool. I recently acquired the S+T Mars globe, which is 12" diameter, I think it will be easier to use than a standard map as a reference when viewing mars.
Does anyone know where to obtain software that can convert a standard map into gores to print out and make your own globes?

I've seen the files already created somewhere online; I think it was here:
http://planetarynames.wr.usgs.gov/GIS_Downloads
What I saw was specifically made for making a globe. If this isn't it, search for it. It was free. I didn't check now, because of my slow line speed.

There're some great Phobos globes around and there're even superb asteroid models of 216 Kleopatra, 433 Eros and 4179 Toutatis...

Thanks for the links! I love seeing those... so many cool models and globes that I had no clue existed. This makes me want a moon globe, and a mars globe, at minimum.. more than ever! (Especially one of those older lunar globes with raised relief on them from the 60's, wow)
