1st try at surface and proms together animation
      #5671106 - 02/09/13 05:48 PM Attachment (17 downloads)

I have done a number of animations of either the surface or proms separately but haven't tried both together until now. Not too bad, except for the fluctuations in seeing and my neighbor that wanted to keep up a conversation during most of my captures so I was a bit distracted on focus at times! At least I have found settings that will work as these proms were fairly faint and still showed up well in the video. It was so nice to be out in the SUN for a change!!!!

And here is the happy camper!!

Nice shot Warren, and despite the brilliant blue skies, it looks cold. Here I am solar imaging (just finished processing a full disk mosaic) in shorts and jandals, had to come in I was cooking.LOL.
Your setup shot looks like Ha and white light side by side, correct?
Gary

Thanks Gary! Yep, winter here, summer there! It was about 30 F so not too bad but I swear the older I get the less I can tolerate the cold! At least the wind was calm!

And yes, that is an HA/White Light Side by Side. Lunt LS60T and an Orion ED80T CF

i like it, what equipment did you used?

did you captured prom/disc in the same video or you made two for each frame? if the first you used a 12bit capture?

i never made it, my pc is a little old and if I use a roi bigger then 400px it lost alot of frames in 12bits.
however i find very difficult even at 12bit to have a good exposition for both, you made a great work

Thanks for the comments!

Astropaulo, that is a single capture, however when processing the individual frames I masked the disk so I could stretch the proms more. It was with the Lunt LS60T, DMK31AU03 on an Atlas and captured with IC Capture, stacked in Registax 6 and processed with PS CS4 then made into a video with Advanced GIF Maker. I think it is 8 Bit but I'm not at my computer so can't confirm that. I shot 200 frames every 2 minutes over an hour.

Wonderful animation Warren. Glad to see you were out enjoying the sun. What no snow? Looks like a great setup.

Ray
