Anybody using W.O. Binos and a Mewlon 180?

I'm taking posession of a Mewlon 180 in a week or so and am thinking about getting a pair of Williams Optics binos. The Mewlon has a feathertouch focuser on it.
Anybody gotten this combo to work or have any suggestions as to how to make it work?

Having now seen your focusser link, I'd say that'll be OK Jeff. It's really short, no longer than many other visual backs.
The Baader Maxbright binoviewer is $279 that's not all that much more than the WO and it has a 23 mm clear aperture. Add a T2 diagonal for $129 and you're in business. A pair of 25mm Plössls would give you 86x (not considering the longer FL due to the binoviewer's longer optical length) and 0.6° TFOV - that'll be fun on bright DSO. I have a pair of 25mm Circle-T 55° Erfles on the way to me to get that last bit of FOV the Maxbrights allow (these have 22.3mm fieldstop compared to 21.2 for the TV Plössl - not all that much difference, I know, but way bigger than my current 25mm orthos at 17.6 mm FS and 41° AFOV).

Thanks Mark. I actually have a new Williams Optics 2" diagonal ( http://agenaastro.com/william-optics-2-quartz-dielectric-coating-sct-diagonal... ) that should work great. I guess I could get the bino and then see if I can make it work.

That's what I feared you'd say. This 2" mirror diagonal eats about 100-110 mm backfocus with the eyepiece clamp included, compared to a T2 prism diagonal that you can use without eyepiece clamp (with the Maxbrights) and requires only about 40 mm backfocus. That's a difference of 60-70 mm!
You will most definitely need to use a barlow lens with your binoviewer, and you lose the "wide" field capability.

Well it's just my opinion, it's not that I've actually tried this combination. But the Mewlon 180 review here on CN indicates the same.

No problem Jeff. I'd suggest getting the Maxbright with a 1.25" diagonal, either the T2 prism or mirror. Install a 2" nosepiece on the 1.25" diagonal, and keep the diagonal attached to the binoviewer.
You can use your 2" diagonal for your eyepieces.

On my Mewlon 210, I tried tonight to add a 2" long extension tube in front of the T2 diagonal with the Maxbrights attached, without barlow lens, and could not reach focus. A shorter visual back (I use a 2" Baader clicklock clamp) would have helped, but I don't know if there's one that makes enough difference.

Hi Jeff, I dont have a M180 , but I do have a M210 and can use my WO bino viewers if I substitute the 2 inch diagonal for a WO 1 1/4 inch diagonal , that way I can acheave focus without the 1.6x barlow .
The views of the moon and jupiter at the moment are just so awsome !! with this combo , it blows me away every time I use it .
I have 2 off , TV 40mm plossls that work very well in this set up .
