very small dome near Rumker hills
      #5672680 - 02/10/13 04:50 PM

Hi all,

I was reprocessing a shot I took last year of the area around Rumker hills and I noticed a possible small dome at the terminus of a wrinkle ridge. It appears circular, and suggests a pit crater or even two. Its shadow/ sunlit orientation is similar to those on the Rumker dome complex. It must be in the 1-2km range size so even at this large image scale its tough to get more detail in order to see it better. Anyone else think this might be a possible tiny dome?

It shows up in this lunar orbiter shot too:

cheers

go to http://astrogeology.usgs.gov/lo-cgi-bin/frameListPage.pl?listing=alpha and dnload the gzip of 4163h2(which expands to a high rez tif) and have a better look...it's not a dome.

Thanks for posting the link to a much higher res image Mardi!
You can see its more of an X shape than circular. Always difficult to interpret an image when the object is at the limit resolution wise!

cheers

Mike

If there's anything about the Moon Mardi doesn't know, nobody else does either.
