I just picked up a 4" Brandon objective.
I have plenty of Unitron stuff laying around and I am planning on building a OTA for the cell.
I would love to make the Unitron 4" OTA that I am using the Brandon Baby Blue.
Does anyone here know the paint code or a closest chip to match that color?
Thanks in advance

"Sorry for the late response. I have not been able to match the Brandon Blue. The closest I can come is by using Rust-Oleum "Harbor Blue" #7722. This paint is still available and I first used it about 15 years ago.

Here is a photo showing how closely Rustoleum "Harbor Blue" is to "Brandon Blue". The smaller scope is a University Optics 80 mm rich field on top of the Brandon 94.

It really dwarfs the ASGT mount even with a pier adapter
The focuser off the 75mm is way too small to so looking for a Moonlite maybe as permanent one
The objective is pretty dirty but it will clean up well

If anyone has a super focuser or a moonlite to fit I would be interested

Thanks Barry
Looks like Harbor Blue is the match
Too bad its cloudy out here
Test on my landscape lights was excellent. Very sharp
Time to take it apart

Thanks, I was hoping my newly acquired 4" unitron would fit on my ASGT mount and this confirm it:-). The picture prompts me to ask what rings you use for the unitron tube? Great setup that i'm close to mirroring. Thanks, Chris

The rings are the inexpensive hinged rings that go for around $30 here in CN
They should be around 114mm but if a bit too large you can add a bit of felt and it takes up the space.
I need to use a longer dovetail .
The rings are a bit too close together
You will have to get your ASGT way up there
It is huge on there
I decided to change the tray on the mount into a 3/4 thick larger tray for more stability and more shelf space

I am used to having this 4" Unitron OTA on the Unitron GEM where it is very comfortable

I decided to order a New Moonlite focuser for the OTA
Ron from Moonlite was very helpful in building one for me
It arrived this weekend and the skies were clear
So I dragged it out of the house
I forgot how big these scopes are and moving them around is not that easy
My 4" Unitron sits in the Observatory so I never think about it much
The moonlite was super smooth as expected

The ASGT with the pier adapter was pretty heavy but not as heavy as the Unitron GEM

The focuser came with a 1.5 rotating adapter , but I did not need it.
If you use a diagonal you may not reach focus with some eye pieces as it adds about 4" to the travel

First object was the moon
I was impressed
Very sharp . It reminded me of the NP101 I was just using on the moon
tho much less portable
