Mount load capacity
      #5674559 - 02/11/13 06:08 PM

Hi all,

A question here. When a mount is tagged to have a load capacity of x lbs, is that it include the counterweight ? I have a Meade 2120 OTA on an HEQ5 mount and it need 3 12lbs counterweight to be balanced. Total 61 lbs for a mount that is tagged 39 lbs ! The mount work well however. I used my scope visually only.

Thanks !

No. Ignore the counterweights when figuring capacity.
