This is first light for mount and scope. Everything is working better than expected.

Nice images but why does your image of NGC 4565 have diffraction spikes?

Great images. I'm leaning more and more towards buying an AT65 as my next scope.

Nice pics Jarrod. What was your opinion of the new mount, and what method did you use to polar align it( polarscope, drift align, or just the handcontrol routine)?

Good stuff, Jarrod. How does your AVX track as compare with the CGEM (I think I see a CGEM in the background in your pics )? Does the PE seem lower?

This is my first Celestron mount. I am super impressed. Very well built. The drive train is a bit loud and does not sound smooth at times. But im also used to my G11. Im not concerned at all with the sound. I really have no concerns at this time. For 800$ this mount is well worth the money. Especially for a setup like mine. Tracking and pointing was spot on the whole night. As for polar alignment i used the hand controller and did the 2+4 and All star alignment.
A+++ in my oppinion!

Thats my buddys CGEM. I havent measured the PE on either mount yet. Maybe tonight i will see if i can measure the pe on the AVX. Otherwise as my buddy put it "its like a CGEM and a G11 mated" haha

Jarrod, first off lovely images. It looks as if the VX mount is working out well for you. I do have a question though - on bright stars in the M42 and M45 images there appears to be an artifact consisting of two diffraction spikes positioned 180-degrees from one another. I'm wondering if that is from the scope, the camera or the processing?
Thanks!

Yeah it was the scope. Turned out to be a small thick hair on the rear most element of the scope. Ive since removed the hair or whatever it was.. It was weird because i had noticed it but couldn't figure out what it was. i had looked in the scope but i guess i kept missing it. Oh well. haha
Ill redo the images sometime soon.

Very nice pictures, you must love your G11 but you also want to have a grab and go mount. Congratulations!
