I originally shot this image last month and added some short exposures today to restore the core of M42 using HDR Composition in PixInsight. I am also posting an image of the rig on a iOptron iEQ45 mount. I picked up the short exposures on a Takahashi EM-10 mount.
This is a Vivitar 100mm f/2.8 portrait lens (Pentax M42 type) stopped at f/4 with a Baader Planetarium Russian adapter (M42X1.0 to M42X0.75), a 10mm spacer, and a QHY8PRO OSC camera.
The image and details:

Hi Dean! Yes, I will be at TSP. I was assigned RV-02. I signed up for the imaging symposium and will be one of the red caps, too. I was recently notified that I will be a speaker at NEAIC in April. Six talks in two days. My working title is "Dollars & Sense" an introduction to astrophotography. It should be a lot of fun!

Very nice image, John! Very cool.
Congrats on the speaking gig, too. I wish I could hear it. Any chance you will sell podcasts afterwards?

That's a really nice image John. I love these wide field images. It puts the DSO's we image into perspective with the rest of the sky.
I'm glad to see you're back up and running!
See you soon.

J-p, I believe one should not exceed 10% of a mount's rating. (Just joking)

Beautiful image! I have a newbie question: Since you used a standard camera lens, why are there 4 point diffraction spikes visible in the full sized view of your picture? I thought this effect is from the spider in reflector designs and that refractive optics are free from this artifact.
Thanks,
Doug
