Observing chair - Advice new

After my first light, I decided that my next piece of equipment is a very solid yet comfortable chair. I like the Stardust but at the same time I like something I can swivel on while looking at my laptop where I am running Stellarium. So, I found 2 chairs I like.. The Tele Vue Air Chair (Kind of pricey) Tele Vue Air-Chair or this drummer's throne Gibratar Hydraulic Moto Throne Gibraltar Hydraulic Moto Throne . The specs are almost a like in adjustment height.

Hi Ben:

For the Nexstar 8SE you need about 8-10" of adjustment height. Here's the stool I use that has 10" of adjustment and at $60 is MUCH less expensive than the ones you linked:

It's comfortable, sturdy, and very easy/quick to adjust.

you may want to look at the "Denver chair". You can build your own for less than $30 and if you do not care how pretty it is less than 2 hours. All IMO; Don T.

+1 re: Don T's suggestion . . . or you could spend some $$ and get a StarDust chair. Very adjustable and very stable to > 400 pounds (my personal choice) - I think a good obs chair is as valuable as a high-end eyepiece.

Do you have to extend the legs out all the way on the mount for an 8SE? If not, I was playing around and adjusted the legs down to where I can use an old task chair I have with no back. The task chair is adjustable and very comfortable.

I'm pretty well satisifed with my Vestil CPRO-800, about $85 from Amazon. It's infinitely adjustable from 18" to 33", folds flat, and is very stable. I posted a short review of it here:

My wife bought me the stardust chair for Christmas. It is really nice. Although not cheap.

Stardust Chair

I showed this to my co-worker and he agreed with me that these are the exact same chair.

They look identical. Are the Vestil's made in Japan? The Stardusts are. I have a Stardust, but pretty obviously these are designed for other uses, and adapted to astronomy rather than being designed with astronomy in mind. I'd buy the Vestil if it was materially cheaper than the Stardust.

I own the 600 and I cannot see a difference between it and a Stardust. It's built really well as is solid as a rock. I believe it's the same chair. It also has the same pivoting padded seat.

Ben, those two chairs in the photo look like the same thing except the seat. If so the Gibraltar would be a good deal if it has the same base as the TV air chair. Easy to store, move and adjust in the dark.

I keep looking at the CPRO-600 as I am a big guy and I like how it can hold 400lbs. I wish I had access to one to try out. Like a try before you buy.
