Celestron Binocular Tripod Mount
      #5679380 - 02/14/13 12:41 PM

I am having a bit of a challenge finding a local shop that can supply me with a binocular tripod mount.

My fall back is an internet order. So far on this side of the border the Celestron mount may be the only option. Any issues with this mount?

I've never seen it; do you have a link?

I know of tripod adapters from Celestron that are made of hard plastic, and have the tendency of flexing under the weight of the binoculars. I don't know if the one you showed is one of those. I am enclosing links to a vendor in US that do ship to Canada. It may be worth the extra shipping and duties, as sometimes the prices are much lower (take, in fact, a look at the first link).

Aah it's the adapter that you meant. I don't have experience with this one but hopefully somebody else will. Since it weighs 1 lb. there's good chance it's not made of plastic, in which case it will probably be fine.

Too thin for higher magnification binoculars.

I prefer this one for high magnifications and/or heavy binoculars such as the Pentax 20x60 PCF WP II's.

If it's for your 10x50s the $20.CAD Celestron adapter would be OK. For larger binos, though, this narrow design L bracket for roof binos could be a bit too flexible and wobbly. I have a similar narrow Pentax adapter which is not really rigid enough for my 5# 16x70s, FWIW.

I'm sorry to see such a limited selection of L adapters available from Canadian vendors!

Rich
