could anyone who owns the new gray tube 11" celestron sct tell me if the front dust cover seats to the inside like the se scopes or does it seat to the outside like the meade sct. i own a 6" se scope and the dust cover has a small lip with three spring like protrusions equally spaced around the cover. ive shimmed up the lip with tape but it still comes off when i take the scope off the mount or it just falls off. a real poor design, i would reather have it to seat to the outside. thanks, donnie

My new Celestron C11 XLT lens cover fits inside but has twist lock channels and locks in place with about a .5 inch CW twist.

that sound good! any design has to be better then the one on the se scopes not running down the scope its self. celestron makes great products. ive decided on purchasing the c11 over the 9.25. i mostly view dso at low to medium power and i think the 11" would show me more with 1.75 inches of aperture over the 9.25. thanks for the reply john59. donnie

I have a grey/charcoal tube C11XLT. I believe it's a 2007 vintage. The dust cap is metal and fits over the outside.

Donnie, just drop a little epoxy on two of the 3 springy plastic clips so they no longer spring and the third one will give you plenty of compression to hold the cover in place. Use clear or black epoxy and you'll never see it. If it still seems loose, epoxy the third one also. I did this with my APM 100mm bino's and it absolutely solved the problem.
Most mechanical issues have a simple solution if you ask around.
