It's good thing everyone in Russia drives with dashcams. Not only do we get to see some of the worlds worst drivers, we're able to witness totally awesome events like this!

I thought they said we didn't have to worry about a asteroid hitting us today?

It didn't hit you, did it? It wasn't really an asteroid, more like a rock.

My understanding is that Russia has had hundreds of scammers who would jump into the path of a car, then sue for injuries. This happened so much that folks in urban areas got dashcams to document/thwart these scammers.
The "side benefits" from these cams that we're seeing today are absolutely awesome!

Go to www.Liveleak.com and search for insurance scam and you will see why everyone in Russia drives with dash cams! Be aware that they show some gruesome and disturbing stuff on Liveleak but most of the time you are forewarned. There has to be two dozen video's of the meteor on there.

I saw in one media video of a little girl with a bad cut on her cheek. Brought a tear to my eye to see her in pain. My prayers go to the people injured. William

Its really a steep coinsindence that this meteor hits the same day as that asteroid passes over. Sorry if this has already been shot down, but is it possible that this rock was in some way related to DA14?
Also that 5th video down is just incredible. I have some hefty speakers. I turned up the bass and volume. That sound is just... terrifyingly awesome. SO lucky that this thing broke appart when it did. Any lower and, oi... My thoughts are with the injured.
Well.. thats one way to get more people to look up. Hello from SPACE. It DOES exist.

Naturally, the original soundtrack in many or most of these videos features Russian expletives of the kind that if translated would jeopardize the American TV stations' licenses. It was funny to see how CBS, for example, rolled them with the original sound loud and clear.

To add a bit of comic relief to a rather frightening situation, the one video in the city where the shock wave not only blasted out the windows but set off all the car alarms. I said to myself, "Sounds like Los Angeles!"

Some of the people (who got outside the long office building in one of the videos) were talking about how they first thought it was WWIII. Now it is reported that the blast was equivalent to 0.5 megaton; the city (Chelyabinsk, population over a million) was saved by the altitude.

Did anyone else notice that in the Ops original video
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=152_1360906606
That in the first video at approximately 0:20 seconds there looks like there is something that comes off to the left side rather than following the rest of the meteorite? What is that?

Looks to me like a reflection - either on the windshield or on the camera lens. If it's not, then it's pretty impressive. I did not notice it before in this video.
