Telescope: Meade Lightbridge 16 @ f/9 (OPT 2” 2x Barlow) Camera: Canon Rebel T2i, 1.25” adapter, manual remote switch Filter: None Exposure: 11x1/250sec, ISO 800 saved as RAW Mirror Lock-up: On, 5 second pause to allow vibrations to settle Software: Nebulosity 2, Panorama Maker 3, Photoshop 7
This is my latest experiment imaging the moon with my Lightbridge 16. As the phase of the moon advances it is getting a bit tougher making sure that the frames overlap. In this case I had to take 11 frames to cover the entire disk. I’m also getting some nasty reflections. I may look at switching from my trusty old 1.25” nosepiece to a 2” nosepiece and see if that helps reduce this problem. Another step I added was using Nebulosity to bin the source images 4x4 to reduce the noise and to make the frames smaller prior to assembling the mosaic. This seemed to work fairly well. This will never replace my high resolution imaging gear, but it is fun to experiment and shows what you can do with an undriven Dob.

Luck beats skill.
I have never noticed the "X" and "V" before, but they stood out so clearly as I was processing these images I had to take a closer look to make sure that they were not an artifact.
Neat stuff.
