The Wife and I spent almost 2 hours trying to remove the existing focuser from the OTA to replace with a Meade FT micro. No go. PM'd some people here, no go. e mailed Dr. Clay, no go. The focuser stem will NOT slide off the focuser pin. It's like i need the focuser pin 2-3mm shorter. So, this is my last gasp: anybody know how to remove the focuser from an 8in lx90? I still have time to return the new one. Some body out there must have installed a FT Micro on an 8in lx90?
thanks neo. I am afraid if I push it to far/hard, something will break and then I end up breaking something that was not broken. It really should be easier. Thanks again..
Finally got it installed. Actually, my wife did. While I was at work she very carefully pointed the front of the scope downward. This allowed a little more travel outward of the primary and the focus stem slid right off the mirror focus dowel/pin. The new FT looks and feels great. Snow, rain and freezing rain in the forcast..yea man..
