It was suggested in the beginners forum that I post here. I've checked all the sites for the larger groups and unfortunately they are all a lengthy drive away so this is just an attempt to connect with someone locally. Thanks! Chiefland is where I'll end up. They had some impressive observatories and observing site. Some of those are no longer active, I don't even know how many hours I've spent pouring over google results trying to find an astronomy buddy. I'm hoping I'll meet someone local at the next new moon meeting in Chiefland. thanks again!
