Portable 12V LCD monitor?

Probably been discussed a million times already, but i'll ask it again anyway...

I'm looking for a smallish battery (12V) powered LCD monitor to use with my scope+videocam.

Here's one i see right now at B&H:

Apparently designed for DSLR's and such, but looks like it might work for my telescope as well? I don't have a whole lot of experience with this stuff myself yet. Anyone else have any recent monitors along these lines they've bought?

The Marshall probably has the same screen as the one I got directly from China in 2011, for $80 less (shipping a little more, but the prices look like they've come down a bit). Same resolution, 500:1 contrast, remote but mine has a larger battery (2200 aH) making it just a fraction heavier. Mine does not accept VGA (I don't know why you'd need that in the field...you'd already have a laptop or netbook with an even better screen). I like it, and mount it right on my scope.

Check out Chinavision.com. They've got a 7" touchscreen that's 800x480 native resolution 500:1 contrast for $107.23, 8" touchscreen for $130, 10.1" for $199 (all have RCA inputs for Mallincam video) and some others. Make sure you vrify that the screen takes RCA (composite) input.

My one experience with this vendor was positive: the device arrived in NY from China in less than 5 days.

I found the successor to my 7" monitor on the Chinavision web site. It now has 700:1 contrast for $204 and even better native screen resolution (1024x600). The better contrast ratio makes for more impressive images on the screen and blacker blacks. It's here.

Interesting, but the specs are confusing. Does this monitor take both NTSC and PAL input? Also does it come with a rechargeable battery?

I believe it takes both PAL and NTSC inputs; you can email them to find out for sure, but the other monitors definitely do.

This one takes a Sony F970 battery (6000 maH, not included) which can be gotten fairly cheap (I saw one price of $28 on the web) but I power mine with 12 volts (I have a whole umbilical of power cables for Mallincam and various other devices on the scope, run from a 33 AH deep-cycle battery).

Hmm. I'm very tempted. I think i might order one. A Chinese website? Hopefully the People's Benevolent Army won't come for me, or the FBI interrogate me.

And i suppose i could hook it up to my Canon 60d as well.
