It was nice and clear but we had to go out and run some errands and when we got home it was 28 ugh! I just can't take it when it's below freezing. It won't be long tho. Lots of shoots of tulips and daffodils coming up in the garden. I can't wait for March!

Hi Allan,
I got out the set of Allan wrenches and made the adjustment in 5 seconds like you said. Now I have a silky smooth alt-az mount with slow motions. Way better than a disk mount and seems much easier to pick up and move as well when the scope is not attached. So I can go from a three step set-up down to two. (1) carry out tripod and mount and level; (2) carry out scope and attach it to the dovetail. I'm gonna love this.
Thanks, Terra

Yes Terra, that's actually the way I do it too, when using the T-mount :-). The hex nut is an obvious and yet ingenious way to swap between AZ and EQ -- can't help wondering why other firms haven't invented / adopted that ...
I've subsequently bought a TM-mount to get a drive option for longer observation sessions at the telescope (I couldn't find a motor unit for sale, so I bought a full mount); When switching to TM, I use the 3-step algorithm...
CS,
Allan

Never really liked altaz mounts myself. I prefer equatorials. Oddly enough, I love my dobsonian, despite this contradiction.
But Terra, why aren't you a member of the 60mm club? http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/60mmtelescopeclub/
Both Allan and I are members. Lots of nice people there, who like to observe with small telescopes. Quite a few Unitron and Zeiss Telementor owners.

Thanks Thomas. Actually, I am a member of that group and have been for some time but I haven't spent much time there or posted in the group. That will have to change now that I know I have two friends there.

Sounds great! Actually, there are quite a few CN classic scope forum members in that group. Right now I can think of at least eight, plus some CN members that are active in the CN observer forums.
