Now I have a silky smooth alt-az mount with slow motions. Way better than a disk mount and seems much easier to pick up and move as well when the scope is not attached. So I can go from a three step set-up down to two. (1) carry out tripod and mount and level; (2) carry out scope and attach it to the dovetail. I'm gonna love this. The hex nut is an obvious and yet ingenious way to swap between AZ and EQ -- can't help wondering why other firms haven't invented / adopted that ... I've subsequently bought a TM-mount to get a drive option for longer observation sessions at the telescope (I couldn't find a motor unit for sale, so I bought a full mount); When switching to TM, I use the 3-step algorithm...
