You will need the SCT-style mounting shoe also, which easily attaches in the stock screw holes once you remove the stock shoe. It works very well for me on a CPC1100. Some also tout the Stellarview RACI finders, which are a bit more expensive. The laser got used 95 percent of the time...the RACI only served as a small low power "scope"... The telrad maybe was used once or twice.. I removed the Telrad...and I honestly could have also removed the RACI finder... These are GoTo scopes and you only need to align on 2 or 3 stars and a Green Laser POINTER does the job (aligning) faster and easier then the other two ... and once aligned you do not need a finder the rest of the night ( you may need a low power small scope a few times ..hence I kept the RACI for that purpose.. I use a Telrad to find the stars for the initial alignment but when I'm refining the alignment, I use the RACI. I've got the Stellarvue F50 illuminated. I put a dovetail shoe in place of the stock finder mount. I added the 2" Riser base (about $18-$20), which raises the Telrad up off of the OTA 2". It made all the difference in the world. Alignment is so much easier without having to tilt my head back so far. The Riser just fits in between your current base and the Telrad. 1 minute installation and is very sturdy. There's also a 4" Riser, but the 2" worked great for me. I also added the optional pulse module. Another easy install. Now I can control the brightness of the reticle and also pulse it at a variable rate or stay on continuously. A dim slowly flashing reticle helps to center on those fainter targets. I only use the Telrad for initial alignment and it works great. Much faster for me than a finder scope. I have a telerad mount too but don't care for it on the C11 (love it on the dob so there you go). Couple years ago I was introduced to the Orion red dot (heads up sight you see on pistols) and I've used that (again, mostly on my refractor and not the C11 but I find it slightly more useful than the telerad). It is an optional piece that is used for attaching counterweights or other stuff at the OTA. OP refers to the brandname Losmandy. Others like me have one of the brand ADM. Most people attach the laser, just like a finderscope, in a specific holder that is screwed on top (or top-side) of the tube. When mounting extra stuff to your scope always keep in mind there are two types of screws on the tube: the sunken ones that never should be used/loosened as you risk to cause bolts falling off at the inside of the tube (no good!!).
