With the news of a large meteor over Chelyabinsk in Russia and the passage of asteroid 2012 DA14 this evening, I wondered which are the largest recovered meteorite fragments?
We know that the Chicxulub impactor had a size of about 10 kilometers but no large pieces were recovered.
Large recovered meteorites:
Namibia - Hoba Grootfontein ( 60 Tons )
Greenland - Cape York: Ahnighito ( 31 Tons )
Mexico - Bacumerito ( 27 Tons )
China - Xinjiang Uygur ( 25 Tons )
Tanzania - Mbosi Tanganyika ( 16 Tons )
Australia - Mundrabilla ( 11.5 Tons )

I've seen models that claim it hit the Earth twice!

You guys mean the THEIA giant impact hypothesis... However, this Giant impact hypothesis does not explain the similar composition of Earth and the Moon.

"The largest mass of 37 tonnes was located in 1969 at a depth of 5 m using a metal detector.[3] This stone, named El Chaco, is the second heaviest single-piece meteorite after the Hoba meteorite (Namibia) which weighs 60 tonnes. However, the total mass of the Campo del Cielo fragments found so far exceeds 60 tonnes, making it the heaviest meteorite ever recovered on Earth.[5]"
