Saturn Feb 24, 2013 from Melbourne, Australia
      #5697230 - 02/23/13 08:16 PM Attachment (34 downloads)

My first go at Saturn for this apparition, and although it appears that I missed the best seeing 24 hours earlier, the sky was still better than average for Melborune at just after 5am this morning.

The seeing was defenitely better during the IR685 filter sequence, and it was just really good to see Saturn again so high in the sky.

Promises to be a great apparition for us Southerners and for the next few years Saturn will be very high.

Shot with my usual set up (12.5" f/5; Skynyx 2.0 camera) and processed in AS2, AstraImage (RGB photo) and CS3.

Clear skies to all.

John K.

Wow, great sharp crisp Saturn !!
Color is a bit off on the RGB (a bit to blue) but man looks great overall !!
Love the black and white.

Some really nice data there John, easily see the hex in both. A nice spot on the Northern edge of the Great Storm Remnant just to the P side of the CM in the RGB. The alt that Saturn is rising too should provide plenty of opportunities, even down Sth in Melbourne. Agree with Freddy re the colour, reckon the G & B could be cut back a little.

Well done.
Regards
Trevor
