I don't know about others in my area, but when we don't have clouds, I can't seem to get a clear image above 150x or so on Jupiter. I was expectng more when I saw that Jupiter was going to be almost as high as it can be. Could it be the up and down temps we have been having lately? The daytime temperatures have been bouncing around from 35 to 60 *F lately, with nighttime temps being 25-45*F or so. I'm not really complaining. Even 150x shows a lot of detail in a 12", but I would like to pump it up a decent amount! lol

All of the southeast has been bad the past 2-3 months. I had one night in January that I rated as a 4 of 5 for seeing, other than that its been awful since November.

In a way, that's good. I was thinking it was the scope or my eyes.

It's been terrible over here in Memphis too. I've only been able to use around 120x - 150x the last few clear nights.

Well now I know it's not my scope! Most nights I have not been able to go over 125x and rarely 160x.

It has been terrible up here in western KY since early fall. Like you said, clouds and no clouds. When there are no clouds, the transparency is not good and/or the seeing is really bad. Now I understand the statement my wife made when I mentioned the thought of going up to a 24, and she said in a very nice way...Why? You can't use the one you have now...
