Excellent idea!

I ran off to the H/W store as soon as I saw this. Couldn't find 1-3/4" bolts anywhere so I went with 1-1/2" and used 9 flat washers instead of 10.

Ali, welcome and that's great you made some feet, the 1.5" I imagine work fine. Post some pics of your new tripod feet, I'd like to see them :-).

This may be too obvious to warrant mentioning, but I use the rubber tip protectors from trekking pole/hunting bipods (which have tungsten tips).

They work well on my metal-tipped wooden tripod legs (The metal tips have no threaded holes).

I'm not familiar with the tip thread specs of aluminum surveyors tripods, but I wonder if this might screw right in?
