I had good conditions for this pencil sketched Saturn observation with my 6" refractor.

Hello Sol,

It is nice to see one of your superb sketches again.
Thanks also for posting your useful template of Saturn.
Clearest skies to you.

Superb sketch of Saturn. Can't wait till I can get my 6" refractor on it as well. Still to cold around that time for me. Will have to wait a little while. I'm just getting old and grumpy I guess.

Very nicely done and applaud your effort.

Well, since the thread is about this morning's Saturn I will post my sketch here. Unlike Sol, I had bad conditions for my ATMed 10" f/7 newton, that's what I could do. I still don't have an AR motor so I sketched soon after the observation; wouldn't do that for Jupiter but it's not like Saturn in bad seeing overwhelms you with details. It's still a start, more to come hopefully!

New Haven (CT), Feb. 25, 2013, UT 11.00, L1=135, L2=7
Newton 10" f/7, 300x, no filters, seeing IV (Ant.).

Ivano

The few intensity estimates I could reliably made (BAA scale).

Thanks to you for the good sketch. I was not sure about the EB and NTB - seeing was just that bad - but I can see them in your drawing too.

Thanks again. The NEB in concert with Saturn's lower altitude should prove to be interesting.

Sol you were using a 6" f/8 for a while too weren't you?

Nice sketch - thanks for the template. It's still in those am hours I can't even think about being up for . Soon though.

Nice smooth contrasts.

Pete

Thanks Jim and Pete.

Pete, that's same refractor 6" f/8 I"ve used for years. I also still use my old 6" Criterion RV6 i had for decades.

Er... are you sure this was made with a pencil? Because to me it rather looks like a picture! Superb, Sol!
