I know there have been some pretty decent ground based photos of the ISS, space shuttle and other satellites. Has anybody private entity ever attempted to take a ground based photo of the X-37B in orbit? The other question is if a photo was taken while in orbit would that be considered classified info?

At that link there are two photos of it in orbit. Just above the launch video.

The best ground-based amateur photographs of spacecraft I have seen were done by a French citizen, who got bored of imaging the ISS. He took some images of U.S. Recon ferret satellites. Ferret satellites do not take spy photos, they are designed to listen to a adversary's radio communications. These spacecraft have huge deployable mesh dish antennas that show up well in images taken from the ground. Unfortunately, the images are no longer online....perhaps the NSA had the user remove them.
