Celestron has a blog entry with frequently asked questions on the StarSense. They say that the new hand controller included with StarSense (and replacing your existing hand controller) will support SkyFi. So you can still control your 'scope with iPhone, iPad or iPad mini with SkySafari. I have found that I can get a jump on the night by doing a 1 star or solar system alignment on a daytime object at dusk, then the GoTo will get me lose enough to a second star that I can see it in my finder and finish a 2-star align. I am going o bet I can do that way before the StarSense has enough contrast. But, we'll have to see!! Alas, I still think that it will require the user to set current date/time etc before being able to start the process but still for the right price this could be a nice addition. As others have said I usually rough align on one object and start observing at dusk. I do tend to 3 star later though so....
