Anyone going to try the ne Celestron star sense which does you alignment automatically. Right now, it's being sold by astronomics. If anyone tries it, please this forum know.

Hi Jim,
Let's see... $300 for a device that does something I can already do in less than 5 minutes. I think I'll pass.
Now, if they reduced the price to fifty bucks...

Will it be possible to use StarSense with a SkyFi wireless adapter and an Ipad?

Check the responses for #AskTeamCelestron. Celestron has a blog entry with frequently asked questions on the StarSense.
They say that the new hand controller included with StarSense (and replacing your existing hand controller) will support SkyFi. So you can still control your 'scope with iPhone, iPad or iPad mini with SkySafari.

Hmmm. Just in the month this thread has been alive, Celestron has slipped the ship date from April to June to July for the StarSense accessory.

You can sign me up for one if is that accurate on alignment... I wonder if it can align any time of day, or at least at dusk? Kasey

Kasey,
That's a good question. I have found that I can get a jump on the night by doing a 1 star or solar system alignment on a daytime object at dusk, then the GoTo will get me lose enough to a second star that I can see it in my finder and finish a 2-star align. I am going o bet I can do that way before the StarSense has enough contrast. But, we'll have to see!!

well if they are not real bright and not obscure stars that is the way I have to do it. To single align on something then star search for alignment star, go-to. power down and realign LOL

I'm tempted by this as the idea of plonking my scope out and letting it get on with the boring Alignment really appeals. Alas, I still think that it will require the user to set current date/time etc before being able to start the process but still for the right price this could be a nice addition.

I'm easily seduced by technology so I really like the idea, and it works with Skysafari.
As others have said I usually rough align on one object and start observing at dusk. I do tend to 3 star later though so....

My CGEM has at times lost control and had to be realigned. It is a pain to do this several times so something that makes alignment easier is welcome news.
