Lunt double-stack module for LS60: 50mm or 60mm?

I have an LS60, pressure tuned. I am considering buying a double-stack module at some point in the future. The 50mm costs $1,000, the 60mm $1,500.

45% more aperture for 50% more money seems like a good idea to me, especially since I understand the double-stacked image will be dimmer.

Is the difference less obvious in practice? All the "pre-packaged" double-stacked LS60s use the 50mm module. Any reason for this? I assume the 60mm will be brighter, better resolution, etc.

The 50mm module is easier and quicker for them to produce. There's a possibility you might have to wait longer for a 60mm module than for the 50mm module unless either Lunt or a Lunt dealer has them in stock. You might want to call Rikki at Lunt and ask about that. If there is a wait, it's probably worth waiting for.

I haven't looked through a 60mm DS. I have a 50mm on mine and it's pretty good. What I've read it'd exactly what you said, a little brighter a little better resolution. I don't think it's going to be night an day by any means.

If it were me, I'd buy whichever one I could get faster. If they had the same lead time and I had the $500 to spare I'd probably buy the 60, but I think if the 50 was all you ever knew you'd still be very happy with it.

I have the 60mm, glad I went with that version.

I looked through both but got the 50MM, if doing it again I would have gotten the 60MM.
