Do You Need a Wonderful Speaker for Your Club?
      #5700522 - 02/25/13 08:28 PM

Last night's club meeting of the ChesMont Astronomical Society hosted a webinar by Tom Field of www.rspec-astro.com If your club is looking for an engaging, enthusiastic speaker who can open the door to a fascinating field, then visit his website and contact Tom Field.

His presentation covered spectroscopy's historical background, the complex professional equipment that is used and, most importantly, how the modest equipment of many amateurs is used for spectroscopy. It was quite an eye opener. Tom is the author of the RSpec software that Sky & Telescope magazine awarded their “Hot Product 2012.” He's an excellent speaker that many NEAF, NEAIC, PATS, WSP, AIC visitors probably know already. Any club meeting room with a decent internet connection and a video monitor can take advantage of Tom's presentation on Spectroscopy. This event was one of our most enjoyable club meeting dates.

I'll second Fred's recommendation. Tom Field's presentation during last Sunday night's CAS meeting was excellent. He took a rather complex subject and made it very interesting.

We had Tom speak at our club's (raclub.org) meeting in January 2012 and it was a very informative and entertaining talk. Tom does a very good job explaining the details of doing spectroscopy with the amateur in mind the whole time. I had arranged for our talk earlier in 2011 but did not have a date until the next year. Tom goes through all the preparations a couple of weeks prior to the meeting to make sure everything is understood. Webex does a very nice job delivering the stream.

Tom's talk was all about the science and was not in any way a sale's pitch. I think our members appreciated that very much. I agree with Fred and Dave's assessment.

Overall, If I were a club, I would take advantage of Tom's generous "FREE" offer before he rightly starts charging a nominal fee for his talk.

We have purchased Tom's system for use at the school I teach at. he is very helpful and informative. This system is extremely easy to use as well.
