Do You Need a Wonderful Speaker for Your Club?
      #5700522 - 02/25/13 08:28 PM

Last night's club meeting of the ChesMont Astronomical Society hosted a webinar by Tom Field of www.rspec-astro.com If your club is looking for an engaging, enthusiastic speaker who can open the door to a fascinating field, then visit his website and contact Tom Field.

His presentation covered spectroscopy's historical background, the complex professional equipment that is used and, most importantly, how the modest equipment of many amateurs is used for spectroscopy. It was quite an eye opener. Tom is the author of the RSpec software that Sky & Telescope magazine awarded their “Hot Product 2012.” He's an excellent speaker that many NEAF, NEAIC, PATS, WSP, AIC visitors probably know already. Any club meeting room with a decent internet connection and a video monitor can take advantage of Tom's presentation on Spectroscopy. This event was one of our most enjoyable club meeting dates.

I'll second Fred's recommendation. Tom Field's presentation during last Sunday night's CAS meeting was excellent. He took a rather complex subject and made it very interesting.

We had Tom speak at our club's (raclub.org) meeting in January 2012 and it was a very informative and entertaining talk. Tom does a very good job explaining the details of doing spectroscopy with the amateur in mind the whole time. I had arranged for our talk earlier in 2011 but did not have a date until the next year. Tom goes through all the preparations a couple of weeks prior to the meeting to make sure everything is understood. Webex does a very nice job delivering the stream.

Tom's talk was all about the science and was not in any way a sale's pitch. I think our members appreciated that very much. I agree with Fred and Dave's assessment.

Overall, If I were a club, I would take advantage of Tom's generous "FREE" offer before he rightly starts charging a nominal fee for his talk.

What else can be said? Tom spoke at my astronomy club's Nov meeting and he was a big hit. I now have people asking how we can get more involved with spectroscopy. Even light polluted skies aren't a deterrent.
Don't delay. Book Tom now!

Tom spoke at our club, Naperville Astronomical Association, this month and it was great. He arranges webex, so anyone can have a presentation no matter where the club is located. It was our first webex and a very good experience, thanks to Tom's preliminary test & walk through. Tom's subject matter, Spectroscopy, was interesting & informative. I asked our board later on any concerns over Tom also having a product available. They were in agreement that he does a good job with the subject and his product being mentioned was minor. One member teaches Astronomy and asked for Tom's contact info since he was interested in Tom's product for classroom use. Great opportunity for any club to hear an interesting topic from a good speaker.

Tom just spoke at our club, Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society (Roanoke, VA), on January 20, 2014. I can echo all of the great comments regarding his webinar that I've read here and elsewhere. He's so comfortable and familiar with his webinar medium and talking with groups that you quickly forget about the distance separating speaker and audience. Tom ensures through an advance practice run that the set up at your end will work appropriately. We had a great turnout to hear his talk, following which there were many compliments heard. Tom's sense of humor (and even a bit of kookiness) keeps things light and moving well through his presentation. As others have said, don't hesitate to call on him for a talk on spectroscopy. You can get details at www.fieldtestedsystems.com.
