I am addicted to eyepieces
      #5700802 - 02/25/13 11:35 PM

I know I need to sell some, but it's just so hard to let go.
Meanwhile, I am eyeing new ones, and have a shipment (of Sterling Plössls) that is on the way.. /

Whew, for a second there I thought you had a problem--SELL EYEPIECES? After everything they've done for you? They've given you some of the best nights of your life and you just want to sell them like some cheap bauble?

Please, seek help; selling eyepieces is a slippery slope...next you'll be buying and selling telescopes....

I tried to break the cycle of addiction. About a year ago, I sold off my whole set and replaced them a few Ethos ep's. I figured I would have the best uber-wides available, so I wouldn't need to buy (or browse) any more.

That worked for a while, but lately I have been scanning the classifieds. I have also been thinking about my old Pentax XW5, and how much I enjoyed the presentation. Then I saw an LVW 22 for a good price and thought that one more ep couldn't hurt. And now I am finding myself slipping into the routine of searching for bargains, assessing ep's I would like to buy (sometimes under the sinister guise of what would eventually work with my kids' Astroscan), and just generally reaquiring the addiction.

Astronomy can be a cruel mistresss, and for many of us Eyepiece Acquisition Syndrom (or EAS in current medical literature) is not to be taken lightly.

It's only a problem if you think it is........

So, If your current eyepieces bother you, send them to me and I'll make sure they're well taken care of.

Zillacare, for those times when you no longer do.......

That will never happen. Denial is the first sign of a true problem.

Haha I have more or less the same experience, I convince myself from time to time that I have all the eyepieces I need for now, then later start to search for eyepieces that might fit for that next telescope I might get in a years time... Or maybe I should just get it now, and some new eyepieces to fit?

In fact, you will use only 5-10 EPs most of a time. The rest will be there just for collection.

Actually, with the weather the way its been for the last few months, I've only been able to look AT my eyepieces rather than THROUGH them...

Will this weather ever clear up? It was a nice night last night (of course, full moon), but we had just had over a foot of snow dumped on us (stopped snowing in the late morning and cleared up) and the snow drifts were such that I would have had to dig out the shed door to open it. With no place to set up that wasn't covered in deep snow, it just wasn't in the cards.......
