These arrays of post-flare loops are always fascinating to watch. When we get these nested loops in H-alpha, I like to call them, "arcades" after the arch-like shape of the front entrances of the old penny arcades that were present at county fairs or on the Boardwalk. When the orientation was right and the flare was a long ribbon-type event, the loops would form a long "tunnel" of multiple loops that looked like a short slinky toy. You could even see the flow of material down the sides of the loops towards the surface from the faint patchy coronal rain that was descending back onto the loops from the flare's expulsion of material. Clear skies to you.

Can you do it in ten wavelengths, most in the extreme ultraviolet, simultaneously? How about helioseismic measurements or magnetograms? When you can, your cost comparison will become more valid.

Hi Joe, I was just having a bit of fun.
The SDO is awesome and I am thrilled by the results it delivers! For me, it is a shame that the money spent on scientific exploration appears to be tiny when compared to budgets on lots of other things such as military expenditure for example? But that's just my opinion and we all think differently.
Regards
Andy
