Is a Orion skyview pro a viable mount for a C-8 for visual use?

Yes, it's basically a cg5. Heck I even had my c8 on a cg4, and it was marginal.
Just be aware the supplied 11 lbs of counter weights will be near the end of the bar, so if you have hand grenades for EPs you may need extra weights.
I love my SVP.

Jeff

Though I use my Atlas most of the time these days, I still have my SVPro from back in '05. I installed a TrueTrack drive system on it and it was very stable for visual even with a 17lb 8" Newt on it. I was also able to do Solar System imaging on it without much problems. If I remember correctly a C8 is 12.5lbs so think you will be good to go for visual only.
