Matt,

You can't do push-to with the z25.

Can this mount be used as a push-to? I really like my push-to Dob. I enter an object and the scope tells me how far and in what direction to push the tube. Then I look in the EP and there it is.

If I push-to instead of go-to, I wil be able to run longer on a smaller battery. I can track after I find an object, but that is much lower power than slewing to an object.

Also, pushing generates much less noise. Between tracking and pushing, I expect I won't make much noise, but please let me know if I am wrong.

No. This mount won't work that way.

Matt, the iOptron PowerWeight is not heavy (7 lbs), fits on your counterweight shaft, will GoTo all night long and the next night too.

Great input about the PowerWeight. I did not expect them to last that long. I figured I would need to bring an extra one for a backup.

Do you guys think the ZEQ would be OK with an SW120ED for visual only and an SV80S for AP?

Don't think you'll have any trouble with the SV80S for AP. The weight of the SW120ED shouldn't be a problem but the 40" length could be. For visual, I think it would be at least Ok. I tried a 50" long 7 pound newt and focusing was a bit of a challenge.

I posted the first image from my new Stellarvue SVQ 100, riding on a ZEQ25, in the Refractor forum. The OTA weighs a little more than 12 pounds with rings, and is 24 inches long with dewshield extended. Add 4 or 5 inches and 4 or 5 pounds with a guide scope and an imaging train.

The ZEQ handled this scope effortlessly, although very slightly oval stars in 5-minute subs tells me I need to refine guiding in PHD, or maybe chase down flexure in the guide scope mounting.

I can't comment on the SW120ED, but I'm sure the SV80S will work well for AP on the ZEQ25.

Just got mine today. It was pretty straightforward to put together but the documentation lacked a but about what to connect to what. Both the manual and quick start guide lacked that. Still, figured it out even though I've never had an eq mount before.

Looks pretty good. Have to see if I have this crosstalk thing I read about here. Weather looks like it won't clear up till next Tuesday...

I did. I read the whole thing. It was good about certain parts of the setup but completely omitted helpful parts. On the whole, though, I was glad I read through this thread a while ago where people recommended skipping the quick start guide.

The PowerWeight didn't come with a manual and only found a word doc on their site through a google search. It didn't make it clear how you charge the unit when there are two ports. I just gambled that either would work with the AC adapter. Would be nice if they labelled one or made clear that you can plug the adapter into either port.

I haven't had a chance to even look since the weather here has been perpetual clouds at night for nearly a month (and will continue for a while longer). But is there a way to focus?

Have pity on me so I don't have to read 40+ pages! Has anyone used an 8" Celestron OTA on this mount? Results? In my case, use would be mostly visual, some planetary AP with webcam type camera.

Hubert,

I've used my orange C8 on the mount for visual and it worked fine. Properly balanced I don't see a problem with AP but haven't done any yet.

Mike

I have a 50mm finder mounted in the C8 along with a second dovetail bar on the top with a piggybacked Orion ST80. I think the total weight is about 12 or 14 pounds.

ARGGGH! Just got my ZEQ25, and keep getting the DEC overcurrent error no matter what I do.

Time to see how well the dealer and manufacturer service is...

My LXD75 worked right out of the box, and so did my Celestron mount.

I use a 8" Edge with the ZEQ25, have no issues for visual use!

C9.25 here, visual and dabbling in DSO AP. It is not perfect but it will do the job. 120 second unguided subs are possible (the longest I have tried), and maybe longer now that the mount is tuned a bit. I avoid windy conditions.

You may get one that is fine out of the box, or not. Just be committed to sorting out potential kinks and you should be satisfied.
