I'd probably want to see just a little more saturation on the colors but it is what I would call a very realistic rendition of this object. Congrats! Yeah that's it, realistic. Whatever the 'new instruction' is it's working. This shot has that 'feel' of looking at the object, not a picture of the object. I can't quite pin down exactly what produces that quality in a pic, but I know it when I see it. I imagine if we were close enough to an object such as this to really "see" it, that since it is made up of gas and dust that it is probably going to be pretty muted and not the brilliant colors we are use to in our efforts to create art. OK, I see what you are saying, yes, the depth is terrific in this M78, and the FOV may have a bit to do with that too. I worked hard to bring out what seemed like a natural feel and colors without cooking the image. I looked at many M78 images and tried to imagine what it looked like through a telescope but seeing color. Learning a process flow using a combination of CCDSTack (taught by Adam Block) combined with new training on PixInsight and a mix of Photoshop training from several sources is enabling me to finally process my own images. It's a great feeling. Again, thank you for the compliments.
