I’m thinking of going ultra light along the lines of the Obsession UC or Albert Highe's design. I want to have the ability to add digital setting circles but for the life of me can't see how the alt axis is going to work (Az is a no brainer). Anyone out there got a picture of how it’s done? You'll note the alt bearings are made with a "center hole" -- this is where the encoders would be attached. I like to use the Sky Commander encoder installation kit for the pivots -- but there are other solutions as well. I see now that with an ultra light design one needs to have a bracket that extends from the rocker base to the where the center of the alt axis would be. This becomes the “virtual” location to place the alt encoder. I've seen some folk use an iPad taped onto the OTA. Probably same mechanics in play.
