You've for a beautiful observatory, Michel, and your sketches are getting better every time! You're lucky to live in such a wonderful place and under reasonably U spoilt skies... My compliments!

Do you have a better view of the observatories ? They very strange but very interesting at the same time. Very simple way to build an obervatory.

Hi André, thank you for your interest
Our friends, Jean-Luc and Caroline owns a very nice astronomical oriented B&B, in a dark sky area, less than one hour from my home, 10km away of the village of Varages in Provence. There is a lack of cloudy-nights there. Jean-Luc and Caroline organise often events around the observatory. Twice a year we organise with them public events in the village as well.
Anyway, the observatory layout is really perfect, with a very nice look and so easy to use! Jean-Luc is building a 5th shelter to place a brand new 50cm diameter telescope in the coming weeks.
Here another sketch view of the observatory area.
The B&B internet site is http://www.lablaque.com/

Thank you all for your nice comments. It’s quite difficult to make very precise sketch of the sun. The proms size and the relative proms position are one of the major issues we, sun sketchers have. My friend Jean-Luc made a quick mosaic of my 4 sketches in .gif. Here with no sketch adaptation, we can compare the 4 sketches in one view :

Michel.
It's a very intriguing concept. Seems very simple to build. Thanks for sharing.
And about you comment on sun precision, you are so right. I really admire you making time lapse of the proms because what I don't have the gust to do after sketching precisely the full disk, is to make another one 1 hour later. You have to reproduce everything the same way at the same position, it's very difficult. Even on a close up of a complex structural prom, it's hard to draw it again 10 minutes later. Just making one once is already a great challenge. Duplicating it is a greater challenge. Imaging is better in such case.
Andre.
