I have a TRAQ Model 545 with the same 10X finder. It's not very convenient to use since you don't sight along the tube, it is not always ready to use without flipping the mirror back and forth which also introduces vibration. It also must be dead center with the main objective though alignment is adjustable with 3 small screws. I got it for a grandson, but gave him Selsi with a 5x24 finder which is easier for a child to use. Still, it is made by TOWA and views are nice. I'd probably pick it up (maybe offer $25) if it were local only because I no longer know when to stop adding to my collection.

Too soon to ask for forgiveness and don't want to ask for permission.
However, I couldn't resist inquiring about a different scope, hope he doesn't respond

He just responded

A wise old project manager i once worked under always told me "Its far better to beg for forgivness than to ask for permision".

Did Astro-Physics ever use Meade mounts? new [Re: snork]
      #5754960 - 03/24/13 09:04 PM

This just doesn't sound right to me, but did AP ever sell a Meade mount with a 6" scope as this CL ad suggests?

Trippy! I've never seen one like that before. Can't tell, but it does look like a decent job. I think it's overpriced, though.

looking through the old ads on their website I do not see that mount. I think someone is blowing smoke.

4" Edmund new [Re: starman876]
      #5756582 - 03/25/13 04:51 PM

4" Edmund outside of Tucson: http://tucson.craigslist.org/for/3702707738.html

I was just out there this morning buying a 1.5" Cave mount with an ATM 6" OTA (no mirror) and lots of goodies. I saw the Edmund scope but I didn't ask if it was for sale. The ad came up later in the morning. The Edmund was in reasonably good shape. It's a 40 mile drive from my house, not going for it.

I passed up a $100 RV-6 this week that was only a few miles from me, but I'd have jumped on that Edmund for $40, regardless of the looks my wife would've given me.

Tucson isn't anywhere near Trenton, is it?

That is a Meade Starfinder mount head with a Byers drive.
No, AP never sold this with their scopes.
I can't comment on the tripod. The Starfinder came on a steel pier.

If I knew they were going to sell it when I was there, I woulda bought it at the risk of bringing home 2 scopes without permission, but I think I'll be okay with just the 1 as it came with a lot of goodies. The goodies excuse always works

The tripod was from Parallax. Identical to the one supplied with the Parallax Series 125 mount. Very nice tripod
