Mark - you can view and image through closed modern double-glazing from indoors in comfort but the scope aperture must be small eg ~3" or preferably less with lowish power and the view angle through the glass is not too extreme. I regularly use my Coronado PST this way

If used in an Observatory, I would think you would need some type of inside shade, as that glass would allow heat to build up.

Who is going to clean all that glass, especially the outside roof portion/inside ceiling. The outsides get very dirty/dusty, we have a glass atrium at work that if not cleaned monthly looks terrible.

The assembly of window/skylight slides open to 8'. I figured sliding them open and using a pier tech pier to lift the scope up. My view would be directly south. I was thinking of a low E ti23 to reduce solar heat gain but some type of blind would probably be needed. Cleaning would be a regular chore but it would be worth it.
