AZ EQ6-GT + Skyfi/Starseek question

Hi,

I've received this mount and I would like to connect it to iPad in AZ mode.

Questions:

1) Is it compatible?.
2) What cables are needed?.

I hope someone has done it in the past and I'm not the first!

Very easy...

Buy southern star's amazing sky safari planetarium from app store ..put on ipad...the best planetarium there is btw...
Buy skyfi wireless dodah from southern stars
Specify cable to connect to SynScan
This cable connects to the cable that comes with the az eq6 mount for firmware updates thru the hand control
Ipad automatically finds the skyfi network
Control full mount functions from ipad

Or ...

Buy self contained cable from Carbon 12 ....this connects the skyfi dodah directly to the synscan hand control

There is an issue with one of the directional arrows (I believe it is the left one). The button is non-functional. I know the guys at Southern Stars are aware of it and were in the process of getting hold of a mount to test it. I think there was one more issue which I do not recall. Otherwise it works.

I never had this problem when last controlled the az eq6 in altaz mode with skysafari/skyfi/ipad

Howard,

That's interesting. There are a couple of posts (one by me) in the Southern Stars Yahoo Group indicating the problem. The left directional arrow was a problem in EQ mode. Another person found an additional problem in Alt-Az mode. What Synscan firmware version do you have? SS was still working on it.
