2 months in CT, where to observe? #5726802 - 03/11/13 08:32 PM
So, I'll be up in Groton, CT from mid April to mid June. Looking for some good sites for observing if anyone has some recommendations.
Light pollution looks pretty nasty throughout most of the state with a few Yellow spots that might be manageable at least to get the scope out. I'm willing to drive a few hours on the weekends but nearby weeknight spots would be nice as well.
Also about 45 minutes away is the skyscrapers which have a classic 8" clark refractor. Skyscrapers
Finally there is he astronomical society of greater Hartford. They host the annual CT star party, but I believe that will be after you have left...
I am in Western CT and the light pollution is very bad... Still down near the ocean there are some state parks like hamonasset which in April or May could provide some dark skies with at least a decent southern horizon.
