Pencil seems like a logical choice because I could go back and erase portions if I ever wanted to, but I'm worried about it smearing over time. I'm wondering what others have done and what has (and hasn't) worked well. Thanks! OP: My pencil constellation lines have never smeared over many years of use in dew that is probably worse than yours. The detailed charts do not, because too often they would go off the chart. They are needed for more a mental orientation. Using the finder you can orient the detailed chart. Since the actual sky doesn't have lines, lines on the detailed chart don't help once you have the orientation right (since most mentally look at the brightest stars first and work their way down in brightness. The finder chart does help, but I'd rather have the lines on the main charts as well. My only concern is smearing. If the pencil lines smear after a while, just re-do them and they'll look like new. I used a Sharpie on my laminated set and it worked well. Mistakes can be removed (with enough pressure) if they're caught soon. The downside of using the Sharpie is that over time, the lines will need to be refreshed. Every time the dew is wiped off of the chart, a bit of the Sharpie comes off too. Post Extras:       Pages: 1
