I started using Firefox full time about 6 months ago and for the life of me, I can't figure out why every time I click on a link to a Youtube video (usually here on CN), the Youtube screen comes up and the video portion stays black. It will never play. I always have to go to Chrome to watch it. I know its a setting, but I can't figure out which one.
I'm on the latest version, 19.0.2. I've got Youtube.com listed as an exception to "Block Pop-Ups".
I use WebRoot anti-virus and have all "http" websites as "low" security level, so I can't imagine that that's the problem.
Do any of you FireFox gurus have a suggestion for me?
Thanks

I figured it out. I had disabled Java Script in Firefox. I didn't realize it was necessary for YouTube.
Thanks

I actually looked in FF to see if I could find your problem, only to realize I have no idea how to set the browser up nor a clue about what the settings there actually do.
Now I know about Java Script. That's a start!

If you are going to disable javascript - use an extension like NoScript. You can then enable on a site by site basis.

Weezy,
You got me there. Can you link me to a site that will explain what you said?

Google Quickjava. It is an add on for Firefox. Shows up in the bottom toolbar as small boxes. You can click on each box independantly and enable/disable Javascript, Java, Silverlight, Cookies, Flash and a few more. Really neat add on.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/noscript/
If I go to Yahoo for example - I can forbid Yahoo entirely, hide most of the advertising, forbid graphics, etc. I can select all of the above on any site.
If you allow everything - most pages will allow Facebook Net, Twitter, Google Analytics, Doubleclick,Etc. I only allow what I want,
