My "No Response 17" meant Burned CGE Motor board new
      #5732140 - 03/14/13 12:13 PM

Just in case anyone else with a CGE randomly gets "No Response 17" and "16" errors, after you've exhausted all the other options (like faulty power supplies, connectors, etc), open up the cylindrical base (where all your cables plug in) and look at the main motor control board. On mine, one of the ICs had an obvious burn mark in the middle of it (burned through the white sticker that says "CGE 5.07").

Lucky for me Celestron actually sells replacement boards now (they apparently didn't in the past). The price was a bit steep ($245 shipped), but it's cheaper than a new mount. I just hope that this was a random wear-out failure, not one that was caused by another problem. I'll know real soon after I install my new board though...

Will do. Just got the notice from celestron that it shipped today. I will be one sad puppy if I hook it up and it instantly fries itself...

Be great full it wasn't the motor that went like mine did last year. You will end up dropping $400 for that
