Managed to get a few images of the comet tonight from the east side of the valley although the smog was probably knocking it's visibility down a bit. Still and all happy to have it recorded...

That's a cool shot with the saguaro and sunset! I agree the air pollution really dimmed the comet tonight. I took a couple of images, and have included my best shot, I did photoshop it and darkened the exposure to enhance the tail, but I like how it looks!

Very nice! Here's the full frame of my image above, the comet is to the left of the saguaro in the lower right of the frame and directly above the radio tower lights; you can barely make out the little smudge if you squint hard enough :

That's a nice sunset photo - good, rich color from the blues down to the orange, nice! Got to love AZ sunsets.
I've attached my original, not nearly as striking as yours.
I'm going to give it another run tomorrow night, try to figure out the best settings for my camera, then hopefully hit the jackpot on Tuesday when the moon is out!

So very jealous.
The weather here in MN may end up being the death of this hobby for me.

I'll second the suggestion to move here although you're first couple of summers you may think it will be the death of you
While I was waiting for the comet to show up I had a visitor come by, I should have taken it as an omen because he was sitting on the same saguaro that the comet later appeared next to:

Wow, that must have been an omen! Pretty neat, maybe it is a Red-tailed Hawk? Now if he had been sitting there WITH the comet in the background, that would have been the photo hands down!

Well thank you sir for prompting me to go back and check the earlier images - turns out there WAS one where he appears to be watching the show:

That is very cool, and it's not a Red-tailed Hawk, it is a Great Horned Owl - you can even see his "horns" - now that is one cool shot! and I think I like the comet better in this one, you can get a better impression of the tail I think.

Here's another go at it from this evening, took a while to find the comet, but did a better job at getting my settings down before it was gone.

Got a couple more tonight, out west of Phoenix this time to avoid the low layer of smog. Also kept the exposures to 2sec so the comet wouldn't trail, helped to show the tail a bit more that way:

And one more, this one as the comet was getting down toward the horizon. Tomorrow night (Tuesday) I'll try one more time then it's work Wed, Thurs and Fri nights. Hopefully by Saturday it'll be a bit higher/set later even if it is dimmer.

Hey Kevin, after looking at all the PanSTARRS photos being posted, the comet with the raptor on the saguaro is still one of my top favorites.
Clear skies.
