OK despite the view in my 10x50 bins not being exactly "stunning" I nevertheless decided to record the observation via a sketch. At least it's now in the file! I hope ISON will be better!

Chris,
Your sketch is pretty impressive. It will climb a bit higher and if it doesn't lose too much brightness. It will begin to look better.

Hi Chris. If you feel that the comet is not so impressive, it's not the case for your sketch ! I like it a lot. What kind of technique do you use ? Mainly for the sky, is that watercolor or anything else? Michel

Maybe this comet is not that impressive, but your sketch is so great. Looks like a photo.

Still it is a fine comet. Could you imagine this comet high in a dark nightsky? I guess it would be

Michel - This is a digital sketch taken from a scan of my field sketch and tweaked with Photoshop CS4. I find that the most important thing for me is to take good notes on colour composiion and then get back to the PC as quickly as possible!

Chris.
I really like the one you have submitted for the contest. A very beautiful sketch of the comet and extremely realistic representation of what I have seen in my scope.
