A simple question: which telrad riser to buy, the 2 or 4 inch riser?

I have the 2"; and am happy with it, on my 16" dob.

2" for me as well - 10" dob.

I bought a 4" riser for my 12" dob, and I'm very happy with it. But a 2" riser probably would have done the job just as well. I just happened to find a used 4" one for sale, and the price was right!

I have the 4 inch riser on my Z12 dob and really like not having to bend so low to look thru it.

I have the 4" and it maximizes my relief from neck or back strain. Just make sure that you mount it Focuser-Finder-Riser otherwise you could have trouble accessing the finder eyepiece.

I use the 4 inch on my scopes.

Edit: One thing I did to my riser because I had one break once, was to use epoxy glue to reinforce where each of the stands connect to the bottom plate. . I have no worries now of one of them breaking like before. .

I have a 10" dob. I originally purchased a 4". I thought it put the telrad too far away from the eyepiece - I would have to adjust my chair to look thru the telrad, then lower my chair to look comfortably thru the eyepiece. I sold the 4" riser and purchased a 2". I like the 2" much better.

I actually purchased BOTH..ended up using the 4 inch on my 8i and stuck the 2 inch raiser on my 4 inch refractor..

Time to get yourself out of the lab and spend some of your hardly earned money... Doctor !!! LOL

I also bought and tried both sizes on my 10" f/4.8 Dob. The 4" was more comfortable for me. I have a 70mm finder between the focuser and the Telrad. The 4" riser means I don't have to lean over so much to sight through the Telrad.

I sold the 2" riser, I believe to someone else in this thread.
