Just a quick ? What would be better as an all around. 8" Edge or 8" F/8 RC. I mean, what one would be better for photography and or visual?

RC is made for imaging..have not heard very good things in RE: visual.
IMHO, the C8 is hard to beat for the $, and is quite versatile. But I would put my $ on a C11 anyday as *I* think it is the perfect SCT in both size/portability, and performance! C11 Edge? My current dream scope!
Not sure how mmalik went from scopes at less than ~$1k to a Tak Mewlon 210, but yea, there are definitely other options, too.
IMHO, the best of both worlds is a great big, and VERY expensive, APO! Tak 102/120/130/150, or AP 130/160, TEC 140/160/180 would do just fine (in my dreams...lol)

For a combo of imaging *and* visual I also thing the 8" EdgeHD SCT would be the better option of the two.

Another quick ? It the edge really that much better then the Regular 8" To image with the edge it will cost $300 more for the FR. Is it really worth it?

From what I read, the Edge does a better job than the normal 8" SCT, probably increases contrast due to special coating?

I'm having a hard time choosing what I would want. I rather do AP and was really looking at the Orion or AT 8" Newt. But then when my little one want to look I need a OTA for that. I was thinking if the ES AR127 just for viewing. But it seems the edge would be better then buy both scopes.

I have the AR 102 and its a decent achromat for viewing though not for imaging. Will exhibit too much false color on brighter objects. The AR 127 is larger and will make you perform yoga free of cost.
I would go for the Edge.

As a 30 year owner of an uncorrected C-8 - YES. The mirror locks alone make it a completely different scope. One of my biggest nightmares is constantly having to adjust my focus, particularly as the scope is closer to the horizon. Then, add to that a FOV that is usable to the edge (as compared to about 60% of the FOV in an uncorrected SCT). I have a lot of images that I had to invest 2 to 3 times as much exposure time in them in order to capture data that was sharply focused across the entire image.
I would highly encourage you to spend the extra $$ on an Edge - in the long haul, you'll be much better off.
