thought I cought a glimpse of the edge of the basin as it appeared to be a linear dark patch near the lunar limb by grimaldi. Is there a way to look up/verify my observation online?

looking at chart 39 of rukl's atlas what I saw was in the location of lacus autumni. Is this considered part of the basin? currently working on the lunar 100 BTW

I picked these two shots (with favorable libration) off of CN. Unfortunately, I don't know deserves credit for them.

A good way to check is by referring to the Virtual Moon Atlas. It's an excellent resource, a great learning tool, and best of all, it's a free download!

Most of the downloads on the page are fairly large - the 14 MB 'Expert' version (in the "Older Versions" section at the bottom of the page) is the only one i've ever used, and it's more than sufficient. Hope this helps.

sure has. I checked out the site in the past but not long enough.

Let me clarify the question since I know I phrased it poorly(I have a speech disorder.) I know the Mare Orientale was out of sight(literally haha), but I am wondering if the Montes Cortillera and the Lacus Autumni were considered part of the basin since they were formed from the impact from what I understand?

I am downloading the virtual atlas right now, but am confused by all the addons it has for download. Do I just download the Pro pack or do I have to choose other downloads?

That's the way I understand it, too.

As far as your download question, someone using the Pro pack will have to jump in. The version I use was complete in itself, IIRC.
