A comet set new
      #5744888 - 03/20/13 11:10 AM Attachment (38 downloads)

March 18th, from a small hill, I had a nice view of our PanStarrs comet.
It was raining during all the morning, then after a strong “Mistral” wind, the sky was cleaned, really pure, just in time for the evening view. Easy to unaided eye, I was able to see the tail. With a 102/1000 refractor, 25x eyepiece, I made a quick sketch, that was just one minute before the nucleus set. Then at home I made the watercolour. A very nice vision indeed!
On the bottom left corner, out of the sketch, you can see the today's moon in front of our so fabulous Provençal sky...
Michel

Michel,

Excellent capture. You really do need a near perfect sky to pick the comet up naked eye.
Your sky there looks great.

Frank

A telescopic view of the comet, a naked eye view of the landscape and a photo of the moon united in one post! I like it.

Hi Jef, the landscape was done together with the comet, via my refractor, however it was very strange to sketch a landscape... up side down... A big first for me !

Very nice. I saw the coma naked eye but certainly not the tail! Nice job. Glen

Thank you Glen, yesterday the comet was very nice in my refractor but certainly no more with unaided eye.
