Losmandy G8/G11 DSC encoder: Question new
      #5761857 - 03/28/13 07:44 AM Attachment (11 downloads)

Hi All,

Could someone tell me of what material the 6 round pins are made that are used in the RA clutching mechanism in Losmandy's DSCH Digital Setting Circle kit. Are the pins made of steel? Nylon?

I have the JMI kit and need to modify the main RA gear to use pins (like Losmandy) in order to get the clutch to work.

Thanks.

Hello Shane
They are made of stainless steel. I have installed the DSC's on my G11.

Yeah, they tranmit the clutch force through the plastic gear.

Hello Shane
The pins for the G11 DSC encoder are .1875 diameter X .500 in length. It is important that the lengths are accurate, and all the same length. The ends must be square to the diameter. You might want to hold them in a vee block, and use the block as a guide to file the ends square. Use a micrometer or accurate caliper to measure the length. Any pin that is short, will not be applying pressure to the clutch surface, thus it will be useless. For all the pins to do their job they must be the same length.
regards
Ed
